I’m used to seeing Nisha and Jack on a dance floor, usually somewhere in the middle of the action at somebody else’s wedding, so having them in front of my camera as the actual newlyweds was a nice change. After crossing paths with them at a few weddings over the years, it was finally their turn, and Batch Country House in Somerset gave them such a lovely setting to celebrate it.
The whole day had brilliant energy. There were loads of familiar faces, plenty of laughter, and two people who were far more natural in front of the camera than they probably expected to be. Whether that was confidence, the drinks, or a bit of both, I’ll let them decide.
A Well-Planned Start at Batch Country House
Apparently the wedding planning was a perfect 50/50 split, if you count 99% Nisha and 1% Jack. Joking aside, everything had clearly been thought through and the morning had such a fun, easy feel to it. Jack was already giving us some very unserious groom photos before the day had properly got going, which honestly set the tone perfectly. Batch Country House worked really well for that kind of start too, with plenty of space for everyone to get ready, move around, and enjoy the build-up without it ever feeling rushed.
Familiar Faces, a Lovely Ceremony and Plenty of Good Vibes
One of my favourite things about this wedding was seeing people I already knew. Tilly and Lewis were there, Jessie and Jay were there, and it made the whole day feel like picking up with a group I’d already photographed before. The ceremony had that same warmth to it, with Nisha and Jack surrounded by people who clearly adore them and plenty of smiles all round. It was relaxed, happy, and exactly the kind of atmosphere I expected from these two.
Group Photos, Wedding Breakfast and Plenty of Laughs
The group photos were exactly what you’d expect from this crowd, lots of energy, loads of laughs, and very little chance of things feeling too formal. Everyone was fully up for it, which always makes those photos so much better, and that same energy carried into the wedding breakfast too. There was plenty going on around the tables, lots of reactions, and that feeling of everyone really enjoying being together. It was one of those parts of the day where I barely needed to do anything other than follow the fun.
Veil Shots, Couple Portraits and Batch Country House Grounds
Veil photos were very much on Nisha’s list, so obviously we were going to make them happen, and we definitely did. The grounds around Batch Country House gave us loads to work with, from greenery and gardens to open space where we could let the veil move properly and create something a bit more dramatic. Nisha and Jack were genuinely brilliant together, which made the rest of the couple portraits really easy too. Considering most of my previous photos of them involved a dance floor, this was technically new territory, but they laughed their way through it and looked completely at home in front of the camera.
Back Where I Usually Find Them, on the Dance Floor
By the evening, Nisha and Jack were back in much more familiar territory. The dance floor was lively, the drinks had clearly been flowing, and everyone was ready to celebrate properly. After photographing these two dancing at other people’s weddings, it was pretty funny finally getting to photograph everyone dancing at theirs. With the entertainment going and the room full of people they love, it felt like exactly the right way to finish the day.
Conclusion
Nisha and Jack’s Batch Country House wedding was such a fun one to photograph. There were familiar faces, ridiculous amounts of laughter, brilliant veil photos, and a couple who somehow managed to look completely comfortable despite admitting they’re not usually the ones in front of the camera.
Thank you both for trusting me with your wedding after all the other celebrations we’ve crossed paths at. Massive congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs, and hopefully I’ll see you both on another dance floor again soon.
