Charlotte and Jack’s wedding at Bishop’s Palace was one of those days that felt full of personality from the very start. It had all the things you hope for in a wedding day… loads of laughter, plenty of love, brilliant people, and so many little touches that made it feel completely theirs. Right in the heart of Wells, Somerset, Bishop’s Palace gave the whole day such a strong backdrop, with its historic setting, gardens, and that lovely mix of grandeur and warmth.

What I really loved was how well the day flowed. Charlotte had organised everything so well that it all felt relaxed from the moment we arrived. Even the last-minute access to the gardens somehow felt like part of the plan. I know that wasn’t quite the case, but it suited the day so perfectly that you would never have guessed otherwise.

A Wedding Morning Full of Personality

The morning had such a good energy to it. There were the usual little build-up moments, but also loads of character straight away, from the styling choices to the details scattered through the day. I always enjoy mornings like that because they instantly tell you this isn’t going to be a wedding that feels generic. Charlotte and Jack had clearly made the day their own from the beginning.

A Ceremony With So Much Joy in It

Once the ceremony got going, the whole room felt lifted by it. Charlotte and Jack looked so happy, and that feeling spread right through everyone there. There were smiles everywhere, a few emotional moments, and that lovely sense of people being completely present. It was one of those ceremonies that felt meaningful, which suited them perfectly.

Quirky Touches That Made the Day Theirs

This wedding had so many personal little bits running through it, and that was one of my favourite things about it. From the toe socks to the four-piece pink dress moment, there was always something to notice that made the day feel Charlotte and Jack distinctively. Those kinds of touches are always brilliant because they make the wedding more memorable for everyone there, and they photograph so well because they come from the couple’s actual personality rather than just trends.

Portraits Around Bishop’s Palace Gardens

Getting access to the gardens was such a bonus, and I was very happy to make the most of it. The grounds around Bishop’s Palace are stunning for portraits, and having that space added another layer to the gallery. We were able to use the greenery, the architecture, and the softer evening light to create some really lovely images. It’s one of those Somerset wedding venues where the setting genuinely adds to the feel of the day without taking attention away from the couple.

A Lovely Evening Building Into a Party

By the time the day rolled into the evening, everything still had that same relaxed, happy energy. Guests were well fed, well looked after, and very clearly ready to enjoy the rest of the night. It felt like the perfect way to round everything off, with the kind of atmosphere where you know the party is only going one way once the music really gets going.

A Bishop’s Palace wedding always has something special about it. Being right in Wells, with the historic buildings, beautiful gardens, and that incredible setting all around, it gives you so much to work with as a photographer. It feels elegant without losing warmth, and that worked so well for Charlotte and Jack’s day.

If you’re planning a Somerset wedding and want somewhere with character, history, and brilliant grounds, Bishop’s Palace really does offer all of that.
