The Great Barn Devon Wedding Photography - Megan & Luca
Starting the 2026 wedding season with Megan and Luca at The Great Barn Devon felt like such a good way to begin the year. It was dry, a bit cool in the air, and everyone arrived already in that happy, ready-to-celebrate mood. From the very start, it felt like a proper family day, with big hugs, kids running around and friends who clearly knew each other well.
The Great Barn Devon fit them perfectly. It is a big, characterful barn with warm stone, high ceilings and plenty of space for everyone to spread out, but it never felt too formal. Megan and Luca kept the day relaxed and genuine, and the venue just backed that up, giving us a lovely backdrop without ever stealing the focus from them and their people.
A Calm Start to the Season
For a first wedding of the year, this one felt really calm. I arrived to find Megan getting ready with her bridesmaids, chatting, laughing and slowly bringing the morning together. Her dress looked incredible on the hanger and even better on, and there was this steady, quiet excitement in the room that built nicely as the ceremony time got closer.
A Ceremony Wrapped In Family
The ceremony itself felt very rooted in family. You could see proud faces everywhere you looked, from parents and grandparents to friends who have clearly been in their lives a long time. When Megan and Luca stood together to say their vows, it felt natural, not over the top, just honest and full of feeling. That walk back up the aisle as everyone clapped and cheered really summed it up.
Time Out For Portraits
After everything settled, I took Megan and Luca off for a short wander around the barn and the trees nearby. It gave them a bit of space to breathe, talk, laugh and just be together for a few minutes. We used the stone walls, the greenery and the little paths around the grounds, and they slipped into it so naturally that half the time it felt like I was just watching them enjoy being married while I happened to have a camera with me.
Navy Traditions, Dares And A Lot Of Laughing
One of the standout parts of the day was all the navy traditions and dares that made their way into the celebrations. There were toasts, in jokes, and a few hilarious moments that had everyone properly laughing. It gave the reception this playful, lively edge and showed just how much shared history and friendship was in the room.
Drinks Flowing and the Evening Warming Up
As the day went on the atmosphere only got bigger. Drinks were flowing, people were gathered in little pockets chatting and laughing, and the barn had that cosy evening glow. By the time the dance floor opened you could tell it was going to be a brilliant night, and I can only imagine how things carried on after I packed the cameras away.
To Megan & Luca
Thank you again for letting me kick off the year with your wedding. The mix of family, navy chaos, laughter and those quieter moments between the two of you made it such a brilliant way to start the season. It was a day that felt real, warm and full of love, and I am genuinely grateful I got to be there with you for it.
