Yarlington Barn Wedding Photography - Debbie & Nigel
That drone shot over the pond was one of the first things that stuck with me from Debbie and Nigel’s wedding at Yarlington Barn. The light was spot on, the water was still, and the whole venue looked incredible from above. It really summed up what a brilliant setting Yarlington Barn is for a Somerset wedding. Loads of space, beautiful views, and a lake that gives you something a bit special during couple photos.
This was my first time photographing a wedding at Yarlington Barn, and I honestly came away really impressed. It’s one of those Somerset wedding venues that gives you a bit of everything… open grounds, a lovely barn space, and loads of room for guests to spread out and enjoy the day. With the sunshine sticking around, Debbie and Nigel’s guests were able to properly make the most of it, and the whole place had that relaxed summer feel all day long.
A Somerset Wedding Venue That Really Opens Up in Good Weather
One of the best things about Yarlington Barn is how much the venue gives you when the weather behaves. The lake, the open lawns, and the wider countryside around it all came into play throughout the day. Guests could be outside enjoying drinks, catching up, and soaking up the sunshine, which always helps create a really natural atmosphere in the photos. I could tell straight away this was a venue where people could properly settle in and enjoy themselves.
A Day That Felt Relaxed and Full of Familiar Faces
What I always enjoy about weddings like this is the atmosphere that comes when there are so many long-standing friendships in one place. Debbie and Nigel’s wedding felt like more than just a celebration of marriage. It felt like a real reunion too, with loads of army pals and familiar faces all coming together. That gave the day such a warm, sociable feel. Lots of people are genuinely happy to be there.
The Pond Drone Shot and Couple Photos Around Yarlington Barn
The highlight for me has to be the couple photos around the pond. That part of Yarlington Barn is such a strong feature of the venue, and once the light started to soften a bit, it looked even better. Getting the drone up for that shot gave a completely different perspective on the space and really showed off the setting. It’s always nice when a venue gives you something distinctive, and the pond definitely did that here. The photos around it ended up being some of my favourites from the day.
Golden Hour Light Across the Grounds
As the day went on, the light just kept getting better. Debbie and Nigel absolutely got the best of it, and the whole venue started to glow in that proper golden-hour way that makes everything look a bit magical. Yarlington Barn benefits from that evening light because the open space around the venue gives you room to work with it. It was one of those evenings where it felt like summer had fully turned up.
A Barn Reception With Plenty of Energy
Inside the barn, things carried on with that same upbeat feel. The space worked really well for the reception, and by the time I was heading off, it was pretty obvious the dance floor was about to get lively. A venue-provided DJ is always handy when it keeps everything running smoothly, and there was a good energy building by the end of the evening. The kind of venue that handles both the relaxed daytime atmosphere and the evening party really well.
Conclusion
Debbie and Nigel’s wedding was such a lovely introduction for me to Yarlington Barn. The venue really was the standout in so many ways, from the lake and grounds to the barn itself and the way the whole place came alive in the sunshine. Add in a really warm crowd, loads of old friends, and one very good golden-hour pond shot, and it made for a brilliant Somerset wedding day. Debbie and Nigel, thank you again for having me along… I really enjoyed this one.
