Bishop’s Palace Wedding Photography - Iona & Will
Iona and Will’s wedding started with one of the most surreal walks I’ve ever taken with a camera, across the pond at Bishop’s Palace, autumn colours glowing, and the cathedral just visible in the distance. It already felt like a fairytale before the day had even properly begun.
Their ceremony at Wells Cathedral was nothing short of jaw-dropping. Grand, yes, but also full of warmth - the kind of moment you can feel right through the lens. Then it was a short stroll back to Bishop’s Palace for the celebrations, where the gardens, the golden light, and a whole lot of love took centre stage.
Here’s a little peek into their day:
Saying “I Do” at Wells Cathedral
One of the most iconic spots in Somerset and the kind of place that just takes your breath away. Walking into Wells Cathedral never gets old, but seeing Iona and Will exchange vows there made it feel even more special. The grandeur of the space, the hush of the guests, and the way these two looked at each other, it was pure magic.
Celebrations Begin at Bishop’s Palace
After the ceremony, we headed over to the stunning Bishop’s Palace, a venue I’m always thrilled to shoot at. The energy instantly shifted into celebration mode, with guests relaxing, laughing, and soaking up the gorgeous surroundings. There’s something about that space that feels both grand and intimate all at once.
Autumn Gardens and Pond-Side Portraits
The gardens were absolutely glowing in the late afternoon light, the kind of rich autumn tones that make every frame feel cinematic. Iona and Will strolled along the pond and through the grounds like it was straight out of a period drama. The mix of natural beauty and calm connection between them made for some of my favourite portraits of the season.
Speeches, Sweet Treats and the Soundtrack of the Night
Once indoors, the atmosphere stayed warm and full of joy. Speeches had the perfect mix of heart and humour, the cake was a total showstopper, and the live band kept everyone smiling and swaying from the first note. It all felt so true to them - relaxed, thoughtful, and full of love.
Evening Energy and Dance Floor Moments
As the lights dipped and the music picked up, things got even better. The dance floor filled quickly and stayed that way, with everything from hand-in-hand first dances to full-on moves from the guests. It’s always a joy seeing everyone let loose and just enjoy the moment, and this lot definitely didn’t hold back.
