Coombe Lodge Blagdon Wedding Photography - Emily & Josh
Emily and Josh’s wedding at Coombe Lodge Blagdon was one of those days where there was always something happening, but it never felt chaotic.
It felt full… full of laughter, full of people who clearly loved them, and full of little moments that made the day feel completely their own. Even though there was a chill in the air, the sun showed up, the grounds at Coombe Lodge looked beautiful, and it ended up being such a brilliant day to photograph in Somerset.
Coombe Lodge Blagdon works so well for weddings because it has that balance of elegance and warmth. It looks impressive, but it never feels stiff. For Emily and Josh, that suited the day perfectly. There was loads of personality in everything they did, from the ceremony through to the speeches and into the evening, and the venue gave them the space to enjoy all of it properly.
A Morning That Built the Excitement Nicely
The day started with that lovely mix of calm and build-up that you get when everyone knows something special is coming. Emily looked amazing, and there was such a nice atmosphere around the morning prep… people chatting, helping, laughing, and slowly getting everything ready. I always enjoy this part of the day because it gives you those quieter moments before everything opens up, and there were plenty of them here.
A Ceremony With Plenty of Personality
Their ceremony was a proper reflection of them. It had all the meaningful bits you want from a wedding ceremony, but it also had character and humour running through it, which made it really memorable. The bit about swearing with ring fingers definitely got people smiling, and it was one of those moments that made the whole thing feel even more personal. I love weddings like that, where the serious parts still feel relaxed and true to the couple.
Making the Most of Coombe Lodge in the Winter Light
Even though it was a colder day, the light was lovely and the grounds around Coombe Lodge Blagdon gave us loads to work with. We headed out for portraits and made the most of the Somerset sunshine while it was there. Emily and Josh were so easy to photograph because they were just happy to be together, which always makes a huge difference. Nothing felt forced, and that’s usually when you get the best photos.
Speeches That Had a Bit of Everything
The speeches were such a highlight. There was loads of laughter, a bit of emotion, and then the slideshow added another layer to it all. It’s always nice when couples do something a little different during this part of the day because it keeps guests really involved, and this definitely did that. You could feel how much everyone was enjoying themselves, and it made the whole room feel properly connected.
An Evening That Kept the Energy Going
Once the daytime part of the wedding eased into the evening, the whole thing just carried on with that same upbeat energy. With the DJ, photo booth and sax in the mix, there was always something going on and plenty to keep guests entertained. It felt like one of those evenings where people were very happy to stay on the dance floor and make the most of it. By that point, the day had already given so much, but it still had more left in it.
